PROCESS
The process began with a week and a half of knowledge transfer through virtual talks with technologists and neural network experts. Then, in Barcelona, we collaborated in creative groups—exploring themes like the physicality of AI, hallucinations, schizophrenia, and the duality of good and bad AI—shaping it all into an immersive performance.
RESEARCH
Research began with the online knowledge transfer. Each participant had ideas, but no clear form yet. I dove into studies of the brain and explored artists whose work intersects with mental health—like Yayoi Kusama and scientists researching neural behavior.
SKETCHES
I started imagining spaces where the audience could be neurons or where the brain itself—like a black box—could be visualized. Most of my sketches were inspired by the stories and metaphors shared by the technologists and neural experts during our early sessions.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
Once in Barcelona, we learned directly from the creative and technical minds behind La Fura dels Baus—like Pep Gatell, Micki Espuma, and Nadala Fernández. Through their insights on light, movement, production, and interactivity, alongside scientific experts, we explored how the brain interacts with creativity, technology, and perception.
ACTION!
“Don’t write. Don’t draw. SHOW ME!” Those were Pep Gatell’s words, and they shaped how I approached the work. The emphasis on doing—not just planning—combined with an intense and generous collaboration among the team, made this one of the most formative creative experiences of my life.
